CBI today filed a chargesheet against two Enforcement Officers of the Employees Provident Fund Organsiation (EPFO) in a special court here for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a firm, associated with BHEL, for preparing an inspection report in its favour.

According to the CBI release, the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the firm for preparing the report in its favour which was to be submitted to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

The release has, however, not mentioned the name of the firm concerned and those of the accused officials.

A complaint filed by the firm had said the bribe money was later brought down at Rs 1.5 lakh.

After registering the complaint against the accused on May 17, CBI caught them red handed while accepting Rs 1.5 lakh on the same day, the release said.

CBI, after completing the investigations, filed the chargesheet in the court of Special Judge, CBI under section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) read with section 7 (public servant taking gratification other than legal remuneration) and 13 (1)(d) (criminal misconduct by a public servant) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, it said.
