Burqa-clad militants open fire in south Kashmir

October 16, 2015 01:48 pm | Updated 04:20 pm IST - Srinagar

Militants, wearing burqa, on Friday afternoon, opened fire at police's counter-insurgency group, Special Operations Group, personnel in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Two civilians were injured in exchange of firing.

Preliminary reports suggest burqa-clad militants alighted at a bus stand in Pulwama, more than 30 km south of Srinagar, and opened fire at the police party.

Two civilians, including one woman, received injuries as the militants and security forces exchange fire.

The whole area wore a deserted look after the incident. Reinforcements have been sent to the area to nab the militants.
