Bomb explodes after CM’s cavalcade passes

One powerful bomb was detonated at Keishamthong in the heart of the Imphal town within a few seconds of the passing of the cavalcade of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. No one was injured. Another foreign made bomb was also detonated on Saturday night at 9:40 p.m. near the CRPF camp at Mongshangei in Imphal west district.

Odisha has stepped up security across the State especially in the Naxal-affected South-Western region.

Security points, frisking at important buildings and checking of vehicles at entry and exit points of towns and inter-State borders have been intensified during past 24 hours. The police are keeping very close vigil this Republic Day celebration following reports that Pakistan-based terrorist groups are targeting Odisha.

Director General of Police Sanjeev Marik and Director of Intelligence Arun Sarangi have taken stock of security preparedness for the State-level 66th Republic Day celebration at Bhubaneswar.

As many as 30 platoons of police are being deployed in Bhubaneswar. Police sources said the venue had been completely sanitised.
