A booth-level worker of the BJP, Sandip Ghosh, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district on Sunday night. Another worker Joydeep Banerjee was severely injured in the attack, the police said. The two workers were returning home after a party meeting when they were attacked in the Malandighi area.

BJP officials blamed Trinamool Congress for the attack, which the latter denied. “It is a fall out of the BJP’s internal feud,” a TMC district official said.

The BJP has called for a bandh call in Durgapur subdivision on Tuesday. Sayantan Basu, a party general secretary, led a demonstration in front of the Kaksa police station in Paschim Bardhaman on Monday night. Union Minister Babul Supriyo, an MP from the area, has condemned the killing.
