Sangeet Som surrenders in court, gets bail in riot case

The controversial BJP leader Sangeet Som was given bail by a Muzaffarnagar court after he surrendered in 2013 Muzaffarnagar riot cases on Tuesday.

The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate. Sitaram granted him bail after he submitted a personal bond of RS. 20,000. Mr. Som also gave an undertaking that he would appear in court for next hearing which is scheduled on January 23.

Before Mr. Som, Union Minister Sanjeev Baliyan, BJP MLA Suresh Rana and party MP Bhartendu Singh and four others surrendered in a court here last December. Mr. Som and six others are accused of violating prohibitory orders. He is also accused of participating in the Nadla Mandor Mahapanchayat, where allegedly incited the mob though their speeches.
