Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi’s wife on Monday fled a defamation complaint against State Health Minister Ramdhani Singh who had alleged that she used fake degree certificates to get a job in a government school.

Jessie George, wife of Sushil Modi, filed a complaint under IPC Section 499 (defamation) in the court of Patna Chief Judicial Magistrate Bharat Singh.

On Tuesday, Ms. George produced, before the court, all relevant educational papers and degree certificates to prove that they were genuine.

Earlier, Mr. Modi had raised the issue of illegal appointment of the Minister’s daughter as a librarian (grade III) in Patna’s Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences. Under fire, she resigned the next day. An apparently peeved Minister later levelled the allegation against Mr. Modi’s wife.
