Expressing concern over reports of girls being sexually abused in shelter homes in Bihar, Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the Centre would consider a CBI enquiry once the State government requests the same.

He was responding to Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan's demand for a CBI enquiry under court supervision into the matter.

Raising the issue in the Zero Hour, Ms. Ranjan said the safety of the girls must be ensured, charging that shelter homes for girls were being made hubs of prostitution.

Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav also raised the issue, saying ‘protecting the honour of girls had become a challenge’.
