The Congress is learnt to be contemplating bringing back Union Minister Bharatsinh Solanki, son of the former Chief Minister, Madhavsinh Solanki, as Gujarat Congress president, replacing Arjun Modhwadia.

The move has been spurred by the resignation of five legislators — four from the Saurashtra region that sends the the largest number of MLAs to the Assembly — from the Congress to join the BJP.
