Mr. Nadda, on a two-day trip to the State, said he was visiting different parts of the country, but had not seen such a situation anywhere.

West Bengal is in the grip of ‘jungle raj’, where the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) is resorting to “physical liquidation of political opponents”, BJP working president J.P. Nadda said on Saturday.

He was addressing the families of the BJP workers killed in political violence in the State after performing tarpan (offering of prayers to the departed) in the Bagbazar Ghat on the banks of the Hooghly.

He accused the TMC of indulging in “state terrorism”. “Every day, there is physical liquidation of people who have faith in a different political ideology.” Eighty BJP workers had been killed in the past few years, but police complaints were not registered . “Those who killed are roaming openly. The police have become mute spectators. The protector has become the predator,” he said.

Mr. Nadda, on a two-day trip to the State, said he was visiting different parts of the country, but had not seen such a situation anywhere. It was cutting the ground from under the feet of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said.
