Badaun case: CBI suspends exhumation

July 20, 2014 01:31 am | Updated November 17, 2021 04:32 am IST - Lucknow:

The CBI on Saturday had to suspend exhumation of the bodies of the two alleged gang-rape victims in Badaun for fresh autopsy due to rising water level of river Ganga that could inundate the graves.

The district administration has now urged U.P. Bridge Corporation for equipment to resume the process on Sunday.

Officials of the CBI-constituted medical board and the agency are camping at the site so that autopsy could be conducted on the spot, sources said. The two cousins were allegedly gang-raped and hanged from a tree in May this year.
