Unidentified persons stole an ATM of the Union Bank of India from Bajwa village, located on the outskirts of the city, on Thursday. Bank officials said there cash amounting to Rs.8.22 lakh in the machine.
Police on Friday said that the ATM booth was near the railway crossing. There was no security guard around when the theft took place.
No CCTV footage would be available as the thieves made away with the cameras too.
Police are not ruling out involvement of locals. M.S. Patel, Assistant Commissioner of Police, said, “It seems that a number of people were involved in the removal of ATM and its transportation.”
