A fresh FIR will be registered in the murder of Apple sales manager Vivek Tiwari after questions were raised over the initial FIR, the Uttar Pradesh police indicated on Sunday.

Additional Director-General of Police, Lucknow, Rajiv Krishnan said that while the first FIR was filed on the complaint of Sana Khan, who was with Tiwari in the car, a second FIR would be filed on the application of the victim’s family. While the police arrested the constables, Prashant Chaudhary and Sandeep Kumar, on murder charges, the FIR did not include their names.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hit out at the BJP over the killing of Tiwari, saying “the BJP does not protect the interests of Hindus”. “Vivek Tiwari was a Hindu, right? Then why was he killed? BJP leaders rape Hindu girls across the country? See it clear. BJP is not well-wisher of Hindus.”

Congress State president Raj Babbar said the police under the Adityanath government “weakened” the FIR.

Samajawadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav demanded that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath resign.

BJP leaders, including Ministers Brijesh Pathak, Ashutosh Tandon and Keshav Prasad Maurya, visited the victim’s family.
