Taking a approach different from the “Make in India” slogan, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav has stressed on “Make in U.P.” catchphrase for drawing investments in the State. “The Government is encouraging ‘Make in U.P.’ so that its benefits accrued to the State. Like India, which is a big market, Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 22 crore, is also a huge market,” the Chief Minister emphasized.

Mr. Yadav took a dig at the “Make in India” slogan and said the gains and benefits of the investments would go abroad. The Chief Minister said the State Government knew very well if adequate facilities are given to the entrepreneurs and industrialists, investments would increase.

Mr. Yadav referred to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway along with the proposal to set up potato, grain and milk “mandis” on its route, even as he invited investment proposals for setting up the markets. “Facilities would be given to entrepreneurs who set up their units along the Expressway”, the Chief Minister said. Mr. Yadav was of the view that the Agra-Lucknow Expressway will transform the economic landscape of the State.

Addressing the traders’ panchayat of the national executive of Samajwadi Vyapar Sabha at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here on Friday, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister mentioned the leather and carpet industry located in Kanpur, Agra and Bhadohi. “Thousands of crores worth leather and other products are exported from these centres, not only was the prestige of the country and the State enhanced jobs have been created for large number of locals,” Mr. Yadav stated.

The Chief Minister said the State Government’s policies are directed towards the benefit of farmers, small traders and entrepreneurs. Stating that the prosperity of the farmers and the traders is inter-linked, the Chief Minister added this approach guaranteed investments in Uttar Pradesh, as well as job creation for the unemployed.

Mr. Yadav said the investment climate in the State had improved which was exemplified by “many entrepreneurs expressing their desire to invest in U.P.”. In this context, the Chief Minister mentioned the three solar plants which were inaugurated by him in Lalitpur district in Bundelkhand region on Thursday.

He added the Samajwadi Party Government is working towards the integrated development of the State, and apart from the Expressway he mentioned the Samajwadi ambulance service. He referred to the modern police control rooms and said the police can now reach the scene of crime within 10 to 15 minutes.
