Under fire for his crass remarks on the current water-crisis facing Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar tendered a double apology, admitting that his insensitive statement was “one of the biggest mistakes he had committed in his political life”.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Pawar had apologized in the State Legislature and the people of the state by issuing a clarification on the floor of both the Houses. “People in responsible positions ought not to speak in this manner...I admit I should have chosen my words more carefully,” he said, speaking to reporters in the evening.
“I apologize for this [statement] and humbly request the people of Maharashtra to forgive me,” reiterated Mr. Pawar.
