A case of molestation of a German national by a local autorickshaw driver is under investigation at the Canacona police station in south Goa.

The accused, Chetan Namshikar, who was arrested on Saturday was released on bail on Sunday, said the police. The auto has been seized.

According to the complaint filed by the girl, the incident took place at 2.30 a.m. on December 5. She was going to her place on Agonda beach after a party at Keri-Agonda in Canacona, when the auto driver veered away from the main road, stopped the vehicle, dragged her out and molested her. The girl freed herself and escaped to her hut on Agonda beach. Local media reports said the police were uncooperative when she approached them the next day to file a complaint.
