People are fed with both the BJP and the Congress, says Ashutosh.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is very seriously considering contesting Goa State Assembly elections in March 2017, but ruled out any electoral alliance with any party.

Talking to presspersons at the end of their two-day Goa visit to assess the public mood, party leaders Pankaj Gupta and Ashutosh on Thursday said that if the party’s Political Affairs Committee(PAC) finally takes a call, they will contest all the 40 seats in Goa.

Mr. Ashutosh lashed out at the BJP government in Goa saying after interacting with people across the State over last couple of days he came to the conclusion that the present BJP government was perhaps the most discredited government in the eyes of the people. He said the government has to go.

“They (people of Goa) neither want to continue with the present government nor they have any love for Congress either. They are looking for an alternative. A clean, honest, performing government, which can make Goa corruption-free,” said Mr. Ashutosh.

The final decision about contesting election would be taken by the party’s PAC after discussions, he stated.

He said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejrival will soon visit Goa to address the people of Goa.

On the issue of any “Mahagathbandhan”(grand alliance) of like-minded parties, an issue which has become a talking point post Bihar elections, Mr. Ashutosh said that “first of all for us BJP and Congress are two faces of same coin. Secondly, we are not a conventional political party and as such do not indulge to get into any pre or post electoral alliances. The traditional parties indulge in this breaking and making of alliances because they are after power, we are not.”

In reply to a question on Punjab elections, the AAP leader said that the people of Punjab would do what Delhi people did and vote AAP to power as they are fed up with not only the Akali-BJP combine but also with the Congress.

About the poll expenses to contest the Goa election, Mr. Gupta said that Goa is a small State and as such they have a very small target of mobilising say Rs.6-12 crores.

“I don’t think we require huge money,” he said.
