Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday said the her government had got mandate of the people on maintaining law and order in the state and that it will not compromise on the issue.
“To end jungle raj and to create an atmosphere free of injustice, crime, terror and corruption is the priority of the present government,” Ms. Mayawati said while addressing the Independence Day function held here.
The government will not compromise with the issue of law and order and it has the mandate of the people on maintaining it, he said.
She said it was due to effective measures taken by the government that dacoits like Daddua, Thokia and Ghanshyam, who unleashed a rein of terror in the state for decades, were killed in encounters.
“It is due to the efforts of the government that dreaded criminals are either behind the bars of have fled from the state,” Ms. Mayawati said.
Highlighting achievements of the government has made efforts to fulfil legitimate requirements of all sections of the society.
“Despite its limited resources the government has launched a number of ambitious schemes for development in the last three years,” she said.
The CM said that to resolve power crisis permanently a number of projects were launched and 4,600 MW will be added by 2012.
She said that to accelerate development works in backward Bundelkhand and Poorvanchal regions the government demanded Rs 80,000 special area package from the Centre.
“As the Centre did not extended any support, the state initiated development works in these two areas from its own resources,” Ms. Mayawayti said.
Earlier, she felicitated three policemen- IG Merrut zone Chandra Prakash, deputy SP Shahab Rasheed Khan and SI Anil Kaparwan with CM excellent service police medal and unfurled flag at Vidhan Bhawan.
