ULFA threatens to target security forces

The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) on Wednesday threatened to target security forces, vital installations and all government ceremonial functions.

In statement titled “new guidelines”, e-mailed to media houses, self-styled commander-in-chief Paresh Barua warned that the Assam Police personnel “involved in killing ULFA cadres and indigenous people” would be targeted. The ULFA would not be responsible if anyone attending an official ceremony, even after being warned, became a victim of an attack.

Stating that all those from outside Assam, including those from other parts of the country, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, would be treated as foreigners, the statement warned that anyone who sold land to “such foreigners” would be considered an enemy. Tax would be levied both on those who have sold land to foreigners and the buyers.
