Two more local leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have been killed by suspected Maoists in the Jhargram sub-division of West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district.

One of the victims, Abinash Mahato, was a Jhargram zonal committee member.

Police said Mr. Mahato and Nirmal Bagh, both residents of Kharbandi village, were abducted by a group of 10 to 12 armed miscreants from their homes late on Tuesday.

Their bullet-riddled bodies were found on a road at Nandageria, about two km from their village, early on Wednesday.

Two Maoist squad members were arrested by the Bankura district police late on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the killing of the inspector-in-charge of Sarenga police station, Rabilochan Maitra, during an encounter with the security personnel in February.
