Two KLF militants who were planning a major strike in Punjab were on Sunday arrested here along with eight kg explosives and fire arms, police said.
Both belong to the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), a terrorist organisation in Punjab, and were planning a major strike in the state, Inspector General of Police P.S. Gill said here.
About eight kg explosives and 40 gelatin sticks were seized from their possession. Two pistols and some ammunition were also recovered from them, he said. Further investigation was on, he added.
The militants have been identified as Jasbir Singh Jassa, a resident of Manki village in Sangrur district, and Harjant Singh of Gurdaspur district.
Karamjit Kaur, wife of Jasbir Singh Jassa, had alleged in a press conference on Thursday that police had picked up her husband and brother-in-law Darshan Singh from their residence and taken them to an undisclosed place on February 13.
However, SSP R.S. Khatra on Sunday denied that the duo had been picked up and kept in illegal detention.
He, however, confirmed that police had conducted raids at certain places after receiving certain specific information.
