The United Naga Council (UNC), which had imposed a blockade against Manipur for 20 days from Wednesday, has announced that its leaders shall not meet the Ministerial team which is visiting Senapati on Saturday to broker peace. The government had suffered another setback on Tuesday when all tribal organisations had boycotted a round table conference convened to talk about various demands. On the other hand, R.K. Anand, an Opposition Member of Legislative Assembly has questioned the government policy of trying to hold talks with Naga tribal leaders who had been declared “wanted” by the court, in addition to a cash reward of Rs. 1,00,000 offered.

In a statement the UNC said that its leaders shall not meet the three Ministers, T.N. Haokip [Irrigation and Flood Control], N. Biren [Sports] and D.D. Thaisii, [Tribal Development], who are scheduled to visit Senapati on Saturday.
