Three persons were arrested and license of 12 public distribution system (PDS) shops were cancelled in raids conducted by the food and civil supplies department in Barabanki district, about 30 kms from here, official sources said here on Monday.

The raids were conducted on complaints filed by locals about foul play of PDS shop owners, senior officials said, adding that while licences of 12 shops were cancelled, 27 licences were suspended.

“We have also registered an FIR against eight PDS shop owners for various anomalies,” they said.

During raids 180 quintals of wheat and 2,350 litres of unaccounted kerosene oil were also recovered, they said.
