The main accused in the >Sheena Bora murder case has now turned approver. On Monday, a special CBI court has accepted the plea of driver Shyamvar Rai to be made an approver in the case.
On May 11, Mr. Rai currently lodged in Arthur Road Jail sought pardon from Judge H.S. Mahajan and pleaded to be made an approver. In his two page application he said he wants to “disclose all truths” of the murder plot.
On June 6, the prosecuting agency, the CBI has filed their reply in court and said it has no objection in making him an approver.
Mr. Rai turning an approver is of considerable significance in the case especially for the prosecution, considering his statement before the court will be treated as evidence.
Mr. Rai in his statement first to the Khar police, and later to CBI, had revealed the entire that transpired on April 24 and 25, 2012 when Sheena was murdered, and her body was dumped and burnt in Raigad, 120km south of Mumbai. He had told his investigators that Ms. Mukerjea had conducted a reconnaissance to dump Sheena’s body in Raigad district on April 23, 2012, and had returned to book a room for her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, also an accused in the case, at Hotel Hilltop in Worli.
The other accused in the April 2012 murder case Indrani Mukerjea is in Byculla jail and husband Peter and former husband Sanjeev Khanna are currently lodged at Arthur Road Jail.
