The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance has nearly finalised their seat-sharing formula, continuing with their old formula of 171 for Sena and 117 for BJP, for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly for which elections are being held on October 13.
“The talks between the parties are over and we would soon make an announcement about the same old formula of 171 seats for Sena and 117 for BJP,” the Sena sources said.
The Sena Executive president Uddhav Thackeray also made it clear that there are no differences among the parties over seat sharing. However, due to delimitation, a couple of seats need to be studied.
However, Guhagar seat in coastal Konkan region is understood to be a stumbling block in finalisation of seat sharing between Sena and BJP.
Post-delimitation, Sena has claimed Guhagar seat, which is presently with BJP, as Leader of Opposition Ramdas Kadam of the Sena is eyeing that seat.
Initially, Sena was demanding more seats, as the crisis in BJP at the national level may have an impact on elections in Maharashtra.
The differences between the saffron allies during Lok Sabha polls, had affected the results.
