In a shocking case of road rage here, a 23-year-old youth was dragged and crushed under the rear wheels of a car after he overtook the vehicle.
The incident took place on Tuesday when the victim Rasid Iqbal and his brother had gone to the airport in their car to receive a friend.
Iqbal, who was at the wheel, overtook a Honda City car on the bridge near the departure section.
This allegedly enraged the driver of the Honda City, who then raced ahead of Iqbal’s Santro car and blocked his way, police said.
When Iqbal got down to talk to the driver, another person on the back seat of the Honda City caught hold of the victim’s collar. The driver accelerated the car, dragging Iqbal to some distance. Iqbal was killed when his head was crushed under the rear wheels of the Honda City, police said.
The police, who are still on the look-out for the driver and occupants of the Honda City, on Thursday said they will take help of CCTV footages to identity the culprits and registration number of the car involved.
“We will go through the footages of the CCTVs installed at the airport and on the signal of the bridge where the incident took place,” a senior police officer said.
The footages will help in identification of the vehicle (Honda City) number and the identity of its occupants, the officer said.
