One killed,40 policemen among 56 injured in road mishaps in J&K

One person was killed and at least 56 others, including 40 police personnel were injured in two separate accidents in Doda and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

One person was killed and 17 got injured when a matador, on its way to Bhalla area from Bhaderwah in Doda district, skidded off the road and fell into a gorge today, they said.

Din Mohammad died on way to the hospital.

In another accident, a bus carrying police personnel on election duty from Poonch district to Kathua, overturned at Bagnote area of Nowshera in Rajouri district yesterday, they said.

40 policemen were injured, eight of them critically, they said, adding, 32 were hospitalised in Sunderbani and Nowshera hospitals, while eight were shifted to Government Medical College here for specialised treatment.
