Muzaffarnagar tense after triple murder

Updated - October 18, 2016 02:37 pm IST - Meerut:

Tension prevailed in Bahadurpur village in Muzaffarnagar after three labourers were killed by unidentified miscreants on Saturday night. An angry crowd of villagers blocked the nearby highway in protest.

According to the SSP Muzaffarnagar Hari Narayan Singh, Surender, Sundar and Kunwarpal, residents of the village were murdered when they were returning from work. Asked if the incident was communal in nature, Rohitas Singh, the police station in-charge of Sikhera under which the village falls, told The Hindu that it would be ‘too early’ to speculate.

“Till now the only thing we can say is that they were killed. And their bodies have marks of violent injuries which shows that violence was used in killing them. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” he added.

The SSP said extra force has been deployed in the village to maintain peace.
