The Samajwadi Party president , Mulayam Singh on Monday launched a broadside at the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh by dubbing him as a “weak PM”, and said his (the Prime Minister’s) dilly-dallying on crunch issues would weaken the country.

Making a case of China’s reported infiltration into Indian territory, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister regretted that the PM could not “muster courage” to lodge a protest with China. Simultaneously, Mr. Singh criticised the Defence Minister for reportedly underplaying the alleged infiltration.

“Ram Manohar Lohia would not have tolerated this Government”, Mr. Singh said, speaking at the birth centenary celebrations of the Samajwadi Party icon at the Lohia Park in Gomtinagar here on Monday.

The SP chief said he had information (garnered from sources) that Pakistan-trained terrorists entered India through China and Nepal and the fake Indian currency printed in Pakistan was smuggled into India through China and Nepal. “Let the Prime Minister order an inquiry into it ,” he said.

Mr. Singh raised the question if the (Indian) envoys in the three countries submitted their report to the Prime Minister. He added that all the three envoys were aware of the fake Indian currency notes (FICN) racket.

Mr. singh further blamed the UPA Government for the price rise and said the Prime Minister should have taken measures for controlling the price spiral. He added that in the present scenario all sections of the population, particularly the poor, are adversely affected by the rise in the price of essentials.
