More skeletons found at Bhopal man’s home

A day after a man allegedly killed and buried his live-in partner at their house in Bhopal, he said that he had killed his parents too. Two skeletons have been recovered from their earlier residence in Raipur in Chattisgarh. Bankura and Raipur police, who conducted a joint operation, suspect that they belong to the parents of the accused.

The skeletons and some ornaments were found in the garden in Udyan Das’s previous residence in Sundanagar. The search was conducted after the accused told the investigators about his parents’ murder and identified the spot.

Sent for forensic tests

Police said the skeletons had been sent for forensic tests. Speaking to The Hindu, Superintendent of Police of Bankura Sukhendu Hira said the “accused will be brought to Bankura on transit remand in a couple of days”.

According to Raipur police, the 32-year-old accused murdered his parents probably in 2010. About a year after the murder, he sold the house and shifted to Bhopal. Superintendent of Police of Raipur Sanjeev Shukla said that after Das’s mother retired, they had settled down in Raipur.

“The accused was studying engineering and had failed to clear his exams. He had not revealed this to his parents. On being asked by his parents as to why he wasn’t getting a job, he decided to kill them,” the officer said.

Das was arrested on Thursday from Bhopal after the police recovered the body of his live-in partner Akansha Sharma (28), from their residence. She had left home on June 22 after telling her parents that she was going to the U.S. via Delhi for a job. She was in touch with her parents through social media till December last.
