Moderate quake in North-East

A moderate intensity earthquake shook parts of North-East this noon.

An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter Scale was felt in Assam-Meghalaya region at 12:32 p.m., Central Seismological Observatory here said.

The epicentre was located in Meghalaya’s Garo hills region near Assam border, Meteorological department sources said.

Meanwhile, another earthquake had shook some parts of the region at 5:54 p.m. on Friday. The epicentre of the earthquake that measured 4.8 on the Richter Scale was located along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura.

No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far.
