A mob lynched a police constable and thrashed a sub-inspector, both inebriated, who allegedly molested and tried to rape a woman inside a shop at Namthilok here on Sunday night.
While Thomas died on the spot, SI Subash, in a comatose condition, is battling for his life in the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital here.
It is said the incident occurred around 9 p.m. and on hearing the woman’s screams, passersby rushed inside the shop and beat up the policemen.
