Concerned over poor revenue collection in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Mayawati has asked concerned officials to speed up the process or face action.

Her warning came when she reviewed the tax and non-tax revenue receipts at a high level meeting here last night.

In the current fiscal, revenue target of Rs 35,600 crore has been fixed under tax head, which is Rs 2,000 crore higher than last year’s target of Rs 33,800.

But till August, total revenue collected under the tax head was Rs 12,677 crore as against Rs 11,018 crore last year.

“Though the revenue collection has increased as compared to the corresponding period last year, it is still short if annual target is taken into account,” they said.

Ms. Mayawati also said all departments should take steps to attract private capital investment in the state and change their policies with a view to attract private investors.

Emphasising on effective implementation of developmental schemes, she directed the officers to ensure that benefit of schemes each eligible persons.

She warned that stringent action would be taken against those indulging in corruption.

The chief minister also directed officers to formulate a time bound programme to connect villages with all weather roads.
