Pune: A 42-year-old man, his wife and two daughters were found dead in their home in the city’s Ambegaon area in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the police, Deepak Hande strangled his wife Swati (35) and their teenage daughters Tejas (16) and Vaishnavi (12). He then hanged himself from a ceiling fan.
The incident came to light when suspicious neighbours alerted the police.
A senior police official said, “A suicide note has been found in which Deepak cited his failure to repay mounting debts as the main reason for ending their lives.”
A native of Sangamner in Ahmednagar district, Deepak had moved to Pune and had been working at a sugar mill for the past few years. He had allegedly borrowed money from a number of people.
