Mahto sworn in as protem Speaker of Jharkhand

Teklal Mahto (JMM) was on Saturday sworn in as protem speaker of Jharkhand assembly at Raj Bhawan here.

Governor K. Shankaranarayanan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Mahto in the presence of Chief Minister Sibu Soren and others.

Meanwhile, an assembly session has been convened on January 4 when the newly elected members will be administered oath. The election of Speaker will be held on January 6.

Mr. Soren will move a confidence motion on January 7 to prove majority in the 81 member House.

65-year-old Soren has claimed the support of 44 MLAs.
