Landmines seized in Orissa

Four landmines were seized during a combing operation by security forces from Maoist—hit Saranda jungle area in Orissa’s Sundargarh district on Sunday, police sources said.

The CRPF, SOG and Orissa police during a joint-combing operation in Chandiposh, Bisra, K Balang and Kalta police station areas bordering Saranda forests, considered a hot bed of Maoists found the four landmines.

The combing operation was launched to prevent infiltration of Maoists into Orissa from neighbouring Jharkhand where Operation Green Hunt has already been started to flush them out.

Last week two hard core Maoists were arrested and two land mines were seized.
