RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Thursday accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of failing to handle the crisis arising out of the kidnapping of policemen after the encounter with Maoists in Lakhisarai district. Meanwhile, his party Rashtriya Janata Dal has appealed to the Maoists to release the abducted police personnel.

“The state is insensitive and inhuman... the policemen continue to sacrifice their lives but still there is no care for them and their families...what will compensation do after families lose their near and dear ones,” Mr. Prasad asked.

He alleged no initiative was taken for securing release of the hostages and appealed to the ultras to shun the path of violence and free the captives unconditionally.

“Violence is no way to solve a problem...the Maoists must shun it and release the hostages without any condition as they are like their brothers,” he said.

RJD appeals to Maoists to free kidnapped policemen

RJD on Thursday made an appeal to the Maoists to release four policemen from their captivity on humanitarian grounds.

“Like you, the policemen in your captivity too belong to poor families and are discharging their duties to sustain their families,” RJD spokespersons Ram Kripal Yadav and Shakeel Ahmed Khan said.

“Your eyes must have welled up after hearing the cries of the kin of the kidnapped cops and various health problems suffered by some of their family members upon learning about the kidnapping,” they said.

The Maoists had kidnapped Sub-Inspectors Rupesh Kumar and Abhay Prasad Yadav, BMP Havildar Ehtesham Khan and BMP ASI Lucas Tete after an encounter from Karja police station area in Lakhisarai district on August 30 last.
