J&K reels under intense cold

People in Ladakh had some respite from the cold wave on Thursday, while the rest of Jammu and Kashmir reeled under intense cold.

Ladakh, which recorded a drop in night temperature, experienced snowfall this morning, Met office said.

Leh registered a low of minus 7 deg C, while Kargil recorded minus 8 deg C.

Night temperature further dipped by a few notches in Srinagar which recorded a low of minus 2.9 deg C.

Pahalgam, a hill resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 4 deg C on Thursday as against minus 3.6 deg C on Wednesday.

Qazigund in south Kashmir and Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded minus 3.4 deg C and minus 3.5 deg C respectively, while Kokernag recorded minus 0.6 deg C.

Jammu recorded a low of 4.6 deg C, nearly four degrees below normal.

Banihal had a low of 0.2 deg C followed by Bhaderwah at 2 deg C. Batote had a minimum of 4.7 deg C, while Katra recorded a low of 8 deg C.
