The Indian Air Force is set to hold its first ever flying display of Sukhoi SU 30 fighter jets and Surya Kiran Aerobatics team in Gandhinagar on January 7 and 9 to give a start to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
The programme will be held a day before the inauguration of the biennial summit by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in presence of foreign dignitaries, diplomats and captains of Indian industry.
“The inclusion of Indian Air Force Flying Display as part of the opening ceremony of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017 is indicative of the synergy achieved and bonhomie that exists between the Armed Forces and the Civil Administration, particularly in the state of Gujarat,” Air Officer Commanding in Chief, South West Air Command (SWAC) in Gandhinagar, R.K. Dhir said.
Besides holding the flying display at the Swarnim Park, which is the venue of the summit at Mahatma Mandir Exhibition Complex, the Air Force, Army and Navy are also participating in the Global Trade Show in the summit to showcase their wares and equipment in the exhibition. “While fifteen para-troopers will be dropped from Mi-17 V-5 helicopters, Chetak helicopter will spray flower petals. There will also be advanced aerobatics by Sukoi SU 30 fighter jets as well as Suryakiran formations,” he said. The Sukhoi SU 30 and Hawk planes will be flown in Gandhinagar from Jodhpur and Hyderabad for the show.
