Huge quantities of bombs and explosives have been seized from a shop and a suspected NDFB linkman apprehended during the search operations in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district on Tuesday as security forces intensified patrolling across the State in view of Republic Day.

Acting on a tip-off, troops of 8 Maratha Light Infantry launched an operation at Kamargaon Bazaar and seized the bombs and explosives from the shop which sells yarn, official sources said.

The security forces recovered seven detonators, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing more than one kg and more than 7 kg of explosives.

The brother of the shopowner, a suspected NDFB militant was later arrested, the sources added.
