Following an announcement by Shramik Mukti Dal founder Bharata Patankar to storm the Sanatan Ashram in Goa, the police in south Goa provided police security around the headquarters of the rightwing Hindu outfit from Sunday evening.

The Sanstha has come under the scanner of investigating agencies following the arrest of Dr. Virendra Tawde, and another member on the run, Sarang Aolkar — suspects in the murder of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar.

The organization Shramik Mukti Dal, had threatened that over 150 of its activists will reach Ramnathi and would march to the Ashram on Sunday.

Ponda Police Inspector Sudesh Naik told The Hindu on Monday that the security which was deployed during Sunday had been reduced to four police personnel.

He confirmed that State police has kept a close watch on vehicles entering the State following the threat.

When asked if the Sanatan Sanstha had sought security, he said that they had written to police referring to media reports about threats from an organisation.
