Four militants and a solider have been killed as the Army foiled second major infiltration bid in north Kashmir’s Kupwara in the last three days.

Police sources said a batch of militants was spotted by the Army in Tangdhar sector, more than 100 km away from Srinagar, on Thursday morning. The group was challenged by the Army, triggering fierce gun battle. The area is close to the Line of Control (LoC).

Preliminary reports suggest four militants and a soldier died in the encounter, said police sources. The Army is yet to officially confirm any casualty. The operation is on in the area.
