Former RJD MP Devendra Yadav launches new party in Bihar

After parting company with Lalu Prasad’s RJD, former MP Devendra Prasad Yadav today launched a new party, Samajwadi Janata Dal (Democratic), as a third front to take on the ruling NDA and RJD-LJP combine in the upcoming assembly polls in Bihar.

“I have launched a new party as a third alternative to the ruling NDA and the RJD-LJP alliance in Bihar,” Mr. Devendra Prasad, who was Lok Sabha member from Jhanjahrpur four times, told reporters here.

He said his party was alloted ‘kulhadi’symbol by the Election Commission.

“It will be an issue-based and policy-based party to represent the people in the upcoming elections in Bihar,” he said.

Mr. Devendra Prasad ruled out any rapproachement with Lalu Prasad and his party.
