With nine more deaths, the toll in the recent floods and rain-related incidents in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh inched closer to 100 today, even as some parts in northern belt saw marginal rise in temperature.
Of the nine deaths, seven persons lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh since last evening, while two died in Bihar’s Madhubani district, taking the toll in the two states to 94.
The states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan witnessed a marginal in the mercury, Met officials said.
Rains eluded most parts of Himachal Pradesh, leading to marginal rise in temperature. Scenic Shimla, the capital of the state, witnessed a sunny day with the day temperature settling at 23.9 degrees, the rise of 1.1 degree Celsius in comparison to yesterday.
Though mercury rose in picturesque Jammu and Kashmir during the day time, it remained below normal in the nights.
Kupwara was the hottest place in Kashmir region with a high of 31.6 degrees.
In Rajasthan, Barmer, Jaisalmer and Bikaner remained the hottest place recording maximum temperature of 40 degrees each. However, some parts in the state also witnessed rains with Jodhpur recording the maximum rainfall of 48 mm, Met office said.
The national capital witnessed a pleasant weather with some parts receiving heavy rains while other remaining under cloud.
