Goa BJP Minister for Sports Ramesh Tawadkar has been booked for allegedly threatening his constituent at Cotigao village of Canacona Assembly constituency in South Goa.

“An FIR has been registered upon the complaint of one Ponu Velip at the Canacona police station,” Superintendent of Police (South Goa) Shekhar Prabhudessai said.

In the FIR, Mr. Tawadkar, an MLA from Canacona, has been accused of accosting the complainant by blocking the latter’s path with a car, then trying to assault him and threaten him with dire consequences. The FIR was registered under Sections 341, 352 and 506 (ii) of the Indian Penal Code.

Mr. Tawadkar denied the allegations and told The Hindu that it was “political mischief of potential rival candidate’s [Vijay Pai Khot] supporters.”
