Expelled MLA says Congress a sinking ship


Rampur MLA Nawab Kasim Ali Khan, who was expelled from the Congress for cross-voting in the recent Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh against party candidate Kapil Sibal, on Thursday claimed the party is a sinking ship and “not concerned” about the welfare of the masses.

“They (Congress) have brought me out of the sinking ship and relieved me of the suffocating conditions. I am thankful to the Congress high command for freeing me. The party is not concerned about the welfare of the masses,” he said at an iftar party in Godi village here on Wednesday.

“Whenever I knocked at the doors of the party leadership to apprise them of people’s issues, I was ignored. They never lend an ear to me,” he alleged. Mr. Khan also hinted at joining BSP, saying it was the only party which could check the “emergence of communal forces-PTI
