Escapes militants

A field sales manager of Airtel, Thokchom Oken, who was kidnapped along with another official on December 17 by militants for a ransom of Rs.1 crore, escaped on Sunday night.

Communications Manager Khangembam Joychandra is still in their custody.

Police and security forces have launched massive combing operations to find Khangembam Joychandra.

The police said the militants behind the kidnap may be members of the KCP(MC) Lamyanba Khuman group.

Following the incident, the services of Airtel in Manipur, including sale of recharge cards, was severely affected.
