A delegation of the Delhi BJP submitted a memo to Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Wednesday requesting him to order the filing of an FIR and seeking investigation by either the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) or the CBI into an alleged Rs. 400 crore water tanker scam in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

Delegation

The BJP delegation included National Secretary R.P. Singh, the Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, Delhi BJP General Secretary Ramesh Bidhuri and media in-charge Praveen Shankar Kapoor among others.

In its memo, the party pointed out that no investigation was done despite a Fact Finding Committee, set-up by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, submitting a report to AAP with all the requisite proofs pertaining to the existence of the said scam in July 2015.

The memo added that Water Minister Kapil Mishra had apprised Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal about the scam 11 months ago.

“Mr. Mishra had written a letter to the Chief Minister in this context and also submitted the report of the committee, but Mr. Kejriwal sat over the file for 11 months. Hence from legal point of view he is guilty of protecting the persons involved in the scam,” the party added in a statement.

‘Put CM’s name in FIR’

The party added that the government was yet to even cancel agreements with companies supplying water tankers despite being aware of the scam.

Demanding a probe into the scam, the party also demanded that the L-G include Mr. Kejriwal’s name in the FIR so that the investigation agency concerned may probe the reason behind his alleged attempts to suppress the case.
