Congress wins 13 posts of chairmen in civic polls in Rajasthan

Congress on Thursday won 13 of the 42 seats for posts of chairmen in the civic body polls, while BJP, BSP and an independent candidate got one position each, an election official said.

Congress candidates were elected as chairmen from Pushkar, Banswara, Chabra, Barmer, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer, Deedwana, Mount Abu, Pindwara, Sheoganj and Sirohi Municipal Councils, and in Pali and Sikar Municipal Boards.

The BJP candidate won in Alwar Municipal Council, BSP in Rajgarh, and an independent in Mangalore.

Of the results declared for 536 out of 1612 for the post of councillors, the Congress won 251 wards, BJP 183 and independents 102.

Elections were held in 46 civic bodies, including for the post of mayors for four Municipal Corporations, chairman in 11 Municipal Councils and chairpersons in 31 Municipal Boards on November 23.
