Centre seeks Bihar’s help in IT schemes

Union Minister for Communications and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad wrote to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday to draw his attention to the fact that the eastern State was not cooperating with the Centre in implementing IT-related schemes.

“The Department of Electronics and IT (DeitY)…(is) facing some issues with implementation of its programmes/schemes in the State of Bihar, which need your intervention to be resolved quickly,” Mr. Prasad said in a letter dated June 15, 2016. “Hailing from Bihar, I am willing to render all cooperation. However, the State government, I need to emphasise, has to play a pro-active role,” he said.

Mr. Prasad pointed out that though Bihar IT department had written to the Centre in 2014, that 250 acres of land had been earmarked for an electronics manufacturing cluster, no proposal had followed it.
