CPI(M) local committee member stabbed to death in West Bengal

A local CPI(M) leader was stabbed to dead and two others were seriously injured by unidentified persons today in West Bengal’s Birbhum district, police said.

The incident happened at Rampurhat village in the district when some unidentified armed persons attacked CPI(M) local committee member Abdul Haigh (61) and two others who were on their way to market, they said.

Mr. Haigh died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital where they are stated to be in critical condition, police said.

One person was arrested in this connection, they added.
